Here’s a (mostly) undiscovered gem. I just loved it. It is at times hilarious – Woody Harrelson is the high school teacher I wished I could have been. Kyra Sedgwick is the mother who can’t ever get it right. But the star of the film is Hailee Steinfeld, playing Nadine, a high schooler just trying to survive in a social world were everything and everyone seems to work very hard to bring her down.
Los Angeles Times: The Edge of Seventeen is the rare coming-of-age picture that feels less like a retread than a renewal. It’s a disarmingly smart, funny and thoughtful piece of work, from end to beginning to end.
