Oscar nominated for Best Picture, Actor, Director, and Screenplay.
This film really surprised and delighted me.
First of all, the Oscars are #OhSoWhite no more, with Get Out setting the pace with four Oscar nominations for black men.
Another surprise: Get Out is sometimes put in the horror genre, but it is actually a phycological thriller. I spent most of the film putting clues together to figure out what was going on. (There is blood-letting in the final act. Rated R for violence and sexual references.)
Most surprisingly, this thriller has a lot to say about how while folks can be completely oblivious to how they are putting down blacks.
Come see this film for the twists and turns of the plot, the great acting, and the ethical lessons.
