This modern cult classic is at once funny and disturbing. Monty Python’s Terry Gilliam takes us on a wild ride through an Orwellian future, where a daydreaming civil servant (Jonathan Pryce) is, through a series of bureaucratic mistakes, is somehow declared to be an enemy of the state. When he crosses paths with Robert De Niro, the renegade repairman, things really get out of hand. This vision of the future is visually fascinating and also disturbing.  Gilliam’s screenplay was Oscar nominated, and De Niro’s performance is unforgettable. Rated R for some strong violence.
